The Appeal
This 1984 Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2.0 TI Auto forms part of the carefully curated Blaauwbank collection that includes an eclectic mix of multi-generational cars, a selection of rare and interesting vehicles, carefully stored in purpose-built, climate-controlled dry storage hangars, located in the arid climate of Central South Africa.
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta 116 Series is renowned for bringing that ever-iconic wedge shape to the sport sedan market, but this particular example stands apart as one of the rarest post-war Alfa Romeos ever produced. This is, after all one of only 30 factory automatic transmission examples built, created specifically for the South African market. This isn't merely a standard Giulietta with an automatic gearbox - it represents a unique collaboration between Milan and Alfa Romeo South Africa, with the latter conducting all research and development in-house. Quite a feather in the cap for SA ingenuity!
Fresh to the market after decades in the careful hands of respected Johannesburg Alfisti K. Strapp, this automotive unicorn combines rarity with provenance. Having reportedly been properly maintained and recently serviced, this Giulietta offers the opportunity to own a piece of Alfa Romeo history that will never be repeated - a factory-sanctioned special with unique mechanical specifications and distinctive features that set it apart from every other Giulietta ever made.
