The Appeal

During the post-war years, Spain was eager to strengthen economic ties overseas, and one way in which this was achieved was the creation of the Santana Land Rover. An agreement was struck with Rover to produced CKD Series models in a southern Spanish factory, bringing jobs to the area and providing Spain with a rugged off-roader to serve the rural economy.

This 1984 example is a late Series III 88" with a 2.25-litre diesel engine. It has been maintained by a long-time Land Rover enthusiast who purchased the vehicle in 2022.

Having received cosmetic attention including a respray in Atlantic green and re-trimmed seats in 2020, this Santana combines classic Land Rover ruggedness with thoughtful maintenance. Rather than being a pampered showpiece, this is a functional, reliable vehicle that serves as a daily driver while still presenting very well.
