The Appeal
As Solihull’s Range Rover moved more towards luxury during the 1980s, the Magna Steyr-built W460 stuck true to a more utilitarian ethos, albeit one delivered with impeccable quality and engineering. This very rare LWB 3dr 280GE channels that idea, but with extra luxury and bespoke features that boost comfort and distinctiveness.
Built in June 1984, it remained in the dry, cossetting South African climate until recently. That likely explains why the cream paintwork still looks so good, matched by the bodywork and chassis. We are told that it has also been restored. Beyond that, many interior and exterior fittings have been improved, including smoked rear lights and LED headlights, purposeful Black Rhino Arsenal wheels, and a two-tone leather interior with C-Class sports front seats and real wood floors.
Those improvements, plus the 154bhp 2.8L straight-six engine and 5spd manual gearbox, make this a compelling proposition.
