The Appeal

The 80s were the era of good, sporting four-seat convertibles, but few were as good or as era-defining as VW’s original Mk1 Golf GTI cabriolet. That’s particularly true when finished in Alpine White with matching body kit and roof, ideally optioned as here with the classic ‘Snowflake’ Avus alloys.

It is a really fine example, largely thanks to the low mileage of just over 52,000 miles. Inside and out, it presents extremely well, even in the usual Mk1 check areas. It is also largely factory standard - the vendor has made some light, tasteful modifications such as the radio, as well as changing the suspension to a like-for-like setup. The original parts are included with the sale. Those changes are part of a long list of mechanical work that includes a new cambelt and water pump in 2025 and the latest service in September this year.

Supplied with an advisory-free MOT to June 2026 and some useful spares, this practical and stylish GTI is one of the nicest we’ve seen in a long while.
