The Appeal
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is renowned - a durable, ever-capable off-roader developed for the hot, often desert-like landscape of the Middle East. This resulted in a boxy, timeless design with solid machinery under the bonnet. The resulting 4x4 has remained largely unchanged since its introduction in 1979.
This 1989 G300 GD represents the classic long-wheelbase variant paired with Mercedes' robust 3.0-litre diesel engine and practical 5-speed manual transmission - all in a very impressive, and scarcely-spotted red livery. Having covered approximately 130,000 miles over its 35-year lifespan, this G-Wagen is a fabulous testament to the model's out-and-out durability. The current owner has primarily used it for short trips and occasional photoshoots, and it's now ready and waiting for the lucky new owner.

✓ We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
