The Appeal
This late-model W460 neatly straddles the twin characters of Mercedes’ unburstable G-Wagon. It carries the style of the more modern versions, but the simplicity and rugged utility of the earlier models.
Finished in factory-correct Red Metallic with an optional factory-wide arch kit, it certainly has presence. The bodywork shows a few signs of age in the photos, with the vendor supplying replacement parts for the sills and screen. Inside, the hardwearing checked cloth interior is in good order, with seven seats, including the folding rear benches.
Beneath the bonnet is Mercedes’ legendary OM617 5-cyl 3L diesel engine, mated to a rare 5-speed manual box. The vendor says it has been well maintained. Previously registered in the UK on plate IIG4599, it is now registered in Ireland. The last UK-issued MOT ran to July 2026.
The current keeper bought it last year intending to modernise it to 2015 specification. After extensive research, however, he decided to leave it untouched — he tells us it is too well-preserved to justify modification. A tidy, usable example of Mercedes’ iconic 4x4.

Hi, nice car, couple of questions. Ad states MOT exempt, but in Ireland all cars younger than 1980 require an NCT. Does this vehicle have a current valid NCT? When this car was sold in December 2025 there was a photograph of the underside adjacent to the sills that showed a significant hole due to rot, has this been resolved? Can you provide some more photos of the underside preferably on a ramp, specifically of the complete chassis rails, all body mounts, rear spring/damper mounts and crossmembers? Also based on the items that were specifically called out in the earlier auction, can you now confirm that the wipers work, washer works, all door locks operate, heater controls work, and exactly what diagnosis has been made of the blower issue that was reported. Also, can you let us know why you have purchased new sill sections and a new windscreen frame, but not fitted them? Thanks,

SellerHi Leo, I am on holidays till tbe 28th. For now let me answer the questions that I can answer. For its age, the G Wagon is in excellent condition. It's completely original. My plan was to upgrade from W460 to W463 spec. As I researched the W460, I decided that to keep the original W460 spe. Was more important and I keeping with the car. Wipers are working
