The Appeal
If any car sums up where Mercedes built its reputation and, for many, what it has subsequently lost, it is this car. The handsome Sacco-penned W126 is the art of engineering over marketing, and this 1989 300SE has to be be one of the very best available.
Finished in the very appealing combination of Nautical Blue metallic with full grey leather and burr walnut veneers, it looks like it rolled off the line only a few years ago. And at under 95,000 miles in 37 years, its M103 straight six 3L engine is barely run in. Beyond the trim it is a well specified SE-spec car, featuring optional ‘Gullideckel’ alloys and large electric tilt/slide steel sunroof.
The history file reveals that this car was first registered to Paramount Pictures, before passing into private hands. It remained in the same family from 1993 to 2025, passing between husband and wife. It is supplied with factory handbooks, V5C and a lengthy, advisory-free MOT.
The joy of this highly preserved W126 is that you could simply show it, or it would work well as a road trip companion or even a daily driver. The choice is yours.
