The Appeal
The XJ40 was the first full rethink of the original XJ. It worked so well that its DNA, first developed in the early 70s, underpinned the firm’s models into the new Millennium. The Daimler-badged cars got elevated specifications, notably including better wood and leather.
This car is an early adopter of the then-new 4L version of the firm’s highly regarded AJ6 straight six engine. Finished in rare Satin Beige metallic with Magnolia leather, it is in very good condition and presents well across the usual XJ40 check areas.
The current keeper acquired the car in 2017, and it has been in dry storage since 2018. That has helped keep the mileage at a very reasonable level. The service history shows a very full service book - the vendor reports 26 entries - and the car carries a lengthy MOT to May 2026 with no structural or mechanical advisories.
The XJ40 is experiencing something of a renaissance, and with good reason, because it exhibits great Jaguar qualities of comfort and quality. Good examples like this stand out and as a 4L Daimler it is arguably the version you want.
The vendor says:
“The Daimler is just a fantastic example with a lovely interior and a great colour combination
“Daimler has excellent service history, 26 stamps plus lots of bills, many old MOTs going back to the first one, has a Heritage Certificate, original book pack, and service book.”
