The Appeal
The W124 is widely considered one of the most highly regarded saloons Mercedes-Benz ever produced, engineered to a standard that has earned it an enduring reputation for quality and longevity. The 260E, powered by the smooth M103 inline-six, is arguably the one to have, offering greater performance and refinement than its four-cylinder siblings.
This Pearl Blue Metallic example with Cream Beige Cloth interior has been exceedingly well looked after throughout its life. The service history is thorough, with records running from its first service at 826 miles in September 1991 right through to work carried out earlier this year. Much of the car's maintenance has been entrusted to Waterhouse Mercedes-Benz, the supplying dealer, and the accompanying history file is substantial.
Earlier this year, the car received a mechanical overhaul using Mercedes-Benz parts where available, covering items including engine oil and filter, spark plugs, all fluid changes, brake pads, coolant hoses and more. Cosmetically, the paintwork was refreshed, the alloy wheels refurbished, and the car was fully detailed and ceramic coated. Four new springs and dampers were fitted in August 2025 along with underside wax oiling. Its fitness was put to the test with a successful trip to the Le Mans 24 Hours in June 2026.
