The Appeal
The polo Coupe gave buyers a ‘Kamm Tail’ classic coupe alternative to the ‘steilheck’ bread van version and proved popular with economy-focused buyers. ‘Fox’ was the entry trim level, but still gave buyers vibrant, colourful interiors.
These ultra-light 700kg cars are now exceptionally rare, especially one as well-kept as this 1991 Fox. It is fitted with the peppy 1L 4cyl 45bhp fuel-injected engine and painted in rare ‘mint metallic.’ The condition reflects the build quality of the 86C and the sparing use of its previous long-term lady keeper, who we are told always garaged it.
The car benefits from recent engine work including cylinder head gasket, oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, thermostat, and various additional engine seals. There is also a TUV valid to December 2026. As starter classics go, this stylish coupe makes great sense.
