The Appeal
Casual observers might suppose that during its remarkable 82-year production run, Morgan, a company not generally noted for instituting change, didn’t change the 4/4 much. Not so, as this 1992 car proves. The 4/4 was continually changed, though most of the alterations were hidden in the mechanics and running gear.
This car is one of 187 ‘CVH EFI’ cars briefly available from late 1991 with Ford’s 100bhp 1.6L fuel-injected CVH engine. Alongside the power hike, other changes included fitting Ford’s Type 9 gearbox with a useful long-legged fifth gear. All changes that make this pretty bright red example particularly appealing and usable.
The car is showing under 46,000 miles on a six-digit odometer. The history file indicates is correct, although it is not verified. Despite its very sparing use, the car has amassed a considerable service history and minor remedial maintenance. It has been serviced annually in recent years and received a timing belt change in 2021. The last service was in November 2025. Further reassurance is provided by the MOT that runs to July 2026.
Any Morgan offers the style and sense of occasion of a much older classic, but with the drivability, reliability and comfort of a more modern motor. This well-kept 4/4 rarity has clearly been looked after and will be a treat to enjoy this summer.
