The Appeal

The W124-series Cabriolet is widely regarded as one of the finest open-top Mercedes-Benz models ever produced. This particular example is rarer still: one of just 766 US-market 300 CE A124 Cabriolets built during a narrow production window at the turn of 1992–1993, pairing the desirable pre-facelift body style with the newer 3.2-litre inline-six engine and electronic fuel injection - a combination that was never offered in Europe.

Its specification goes further still. The striking Malachite Green (249) paintwork over light Champignon leather is an unusual pairing, and the car came from new with a genuine Lorinser styling package comprising front and rear bumpers, a boot lid spoiler, 17-inch Lorinser RSK2 three-piece wheels, lowering springs, and a rear muffler. The vendor proudly tells us that every Lorinser component is authentic, not a fibreglass replica.

Having spent its life in the dry Californian climate before being imported to Poland in 2016, the car has been used exclusively as a hobby vehicle by its current owner. During that time, the model's known weak points have been systematically addressed by a Mercedes-Benz specialist workshop, with documentation available.

An original Mercedes wind deflector is included, and we're told that the car was featured on the cover of Classicauto magazine.
