The Appeal
The E31 8-Series was like a two-fingered salute to the competition. BMW’s engineers threw everything at it, delivering a technological tour de force whose innovations would trickle down into the firm’s regular models over the next decade. By any measure, it is one of the best 2+2 GTs of the 90s, a reliable, dependable and quality alternative to a truculent Italian thoroughbred.
Just 2,190 840CIs were sold in the UK, of which few now survive. This low-mileage 1994 car must be amongst the best, thanks in part to its appealing Orient Blue and grey leather colour scheme, plus the current keeper’s £10,000 investment since 2021.
The work, largely by the same specialist through the years, has covered bodywork repairs, electrics, braking, suspension and cooling system. The car has covered barely 4,000 miles since the first day of work began. Despite the sparing use it has been regularly serviced, most recently in July 2025.
Presented in very good order and with advisory-free MOT to May 2026, this is a great example of a car garnering increasing appreciation from enthusiasts.
