The Appeal
Britain never officially got the Soarer, which feels like a mistake by Toyota. These big, sumptuous, smoothly-styled coupes were built better than contemporary Mercedes-Benz and, unlike the German car, could claim proper sporting connections - in this case Toyota’s excellent Supra.
It is perhaps no surprise, then, that several Soarers have begun arriving on these shores. Enthusiasts value the quality, comfort and performance - and the reliability of all that Toyota engineering. These are Supras for those who prefer their sports cars to be more comfortable and less shouty.
Here is a very good one. It is the top specification GT-TL with the twin-turbo 2.5L straight six 1JZ-GTE engine delivering a healthy 280bhp. With a mileage of just 36,242 it is understandably in remarkably preserved condition. The interior is particularly impressive. The specification is also temptingly original. Many Soarers have been heavily modified, but this one is largely factory standard except for a Supra downpipe, uprated exhaust system and a blow-off valve.
It has been looked after and comes to market with no issues for the buyer to rectify. It has a long, advisory-free MOT to November 2025. A recent service adds to the appeal of a very smart Soarer that is ready to drive away and enjoy.
