The Appeal
The E36 convertible is like a tick box exercise in defining the perfect set of classic summer wheels. Agile BMW dynamics, reliable drivetrains, decent quality and practical four-seat layout with a decent boot. These cars are made for summer roads trips with friends and family.
This very low mileage 318i would fulfill that role perfectly. It’s economical and fitted with the relaxing auto box that will make short work of many miles. The history file indicates a well maintained car by its trio of keepers, with recent service in May 2025. Other recent work includes four new Falken tyres and front discs and pads. It arrives at auction in perfect time for sunnier climes.
The vendor reports that the car is highly original and drives very well. He praises the car's comfort, relaxed nature and smooth driving, all qualities that anyone who knows the E36 will surely also cherish. For those new to them here's a chance to discover them.
The vendor says:
"What I love the most about it is how stylish she is still at this age. She’s coming from a classic BMW collector - myself- in which she shares the garage with a 1 out of 1 E36 328i Cabriolet Individual and a 1984 E30 320i 6cyl.
"She doesn’t just drive well, she literally wafts about. The 4 speed gearbox is smooth and well responsive still even for today’s standards and works well in its three modes, The engine is smooth and with plenty of power."

"My E36 comes with 3 keys, just had the interior does have a few marks on the drivers seats, but it is still considerably clean and well presentable for its age - 31 years old.
"It will be sold with the Jersey V5 and the owner will be responsible for registering the car in the UK. I am also a Jersey resident so I can legally keep it both here in Southampton, UK and in Saint Helier Jersey. The vehicle is currently located in Southampton England, should the buyer require assistance to register it in the UK I could refer it to a professional who could take care of it in a very smooth way at a sensible cost."

The vendor says:
"The bodywork is straight and with panels well lined up, it does have a few scratches, lacquer peels and a dubious previous repair on the nsr quarter, however the car is fully original and can serve as a blank canvas for the new owner to either make it better or fully modify it to his taste.
"Both the headlights and taillights are original, none of the arches or wings have any rust on them, and neither does the underside or the inner sills which are solid with no rust, just surface peeling of the protective rubber seal on the bar outer sill and a little bit of surface corrosion on the bottom of the nsr taillight.
"It is important to emphasise that the convertible top is fully manual - but very easy, quick and intuitive to use. The heater works really well, as well as the blower motor which seems to be a usual issue on the E36s.
"Suspension wise it still handles amazingly well with the sheer agility of the E36 chassis, with no knocks or bangs nor even bush noises. She is literally a time capsule. All the instruments and switchgear works amazingly well."
