The Appeal
The Renault Sport Spider is one of the most audacious road-going cars built in Europe. It's a very impressive resume to earn the title, too - built in limited numbers between 1996 and 1999, this is lightweight, mid-engined sports car featuring an aluminium chassis and composite body. That's a single-minded philosophy more akin to Lotus than to the French road-going marque, and it quickly caused quite the stir across Europe. UK-specification cars were notably fitted with a windscreen, which goes some way to identifying them against their screenless Continental brethren.
This yellow example was purchased new on 27th October 1997 - a birthday present from the owner to themselves that they've lovingly kept ever since. Having covered fewer than 9,400 miles in nearly 29 years, it has spent most of its life stored undercover, and is reportedly still driving exactly as it should, something backed by the long, advisory-free MOT.
