The Appeal

The ‘K’ in the original R170 SLK’s name is a clue to its nature. ‘Kurz,’ which is ‘short’ in German, signals that this compact coupe-come-convertible delivers all the comfort and long-distance cruisability of the bigger SL models, but in a more manoeuvrable package.

No wonder it was a success, particularly this model the SLK230 with its 2.3L supercharged 193bhp motor. Light and with that lovely boosted soundtrack, it makes a great modern classic thanks to its great mix of power and economy.

Few are as good as this one. It has had just two keepers in its life, both of whom have kept the usage down so that it has covered less than 31,000 miles in its life. They haven’t cut corners on the maintenance, the service book showing a run of stamps all by Mercedes-Benz main dealers. The last service was at 30,241 miles and it now shows 30,549 miles.

Finished in popular Brilliant Silver metallic with black leather cabin and carbon fibre-effect trim, this is a very well kept and smartly presented early R170. It carries MOT to late December 2026.

The vendor says:

“I’ve seen a few classic cars or future classics, but never in this specification and condition. The car has been garaged for its entire life (by us and the previous owner) and put on a CTEK charger to ensure the battery is tip-top. The boot has unopened car accessories.

The reason we are selling it is because we now have 2 toddlers, and as a result, my wife and I are both not getting the opportunity to use the car.”
