When driving pleasure is paramount, only a Morgan will suffice. Other car manufacturers have diversified away from the simple pleasures of open-air rear-drive motoring, but in the Malvern Hills, car manufacturing continues as it always has done. To that end, Morgans are better judged by their mileage and condition than by their age, and this 1999 Plus 4 illustrates the point perfectly.
Despite being over a quarter of a century old, this car has covered just seven thousand miles since it was registered as a demonstrator for Cliffsea Morgan of Essex in March 1999. It was specified with Autolux upholstery, straw felt-backed carpets and Rover Nightfire red paint – and that’s how it remains to this day. An extraordinarily low four-figure mileage means this two-seater roadster looks and drives as it did when it first rolled out of the factory, with a glovebox full of photographs taken during its construction in September 1998.
Needless to say, the aluminium bonnet and wings are in impeccable order, and you’ll search in vain for any damage across the gleaming chromework or wire wheels. However, the car’s greatest charms lie inside that snug beige leather cabin. The walnut dash, timber-and-metal three-spoke steering wheel and gearlever gaiter have clearly received minimal use, with only light patina on the seat edges and glovebox.
The vendor describes this car as having “outstanding presentation”, and it has demonstrably been cherished throughout its low-mileage life. As such, it represents a unique opportunity to purchase a Millennial Morgan which has barely been run in.
