The Appeal
The original 986 Boxster ushered in a new era for Porsche, and it wasn’t entirely focused on the 911. By mixing 911 style and components with a thoroughly different mid-engined character, it gave buyers a genuine alternative to the rear-engined icon.
As enthusiasts return to early cars, the 2.5L flat six really stands out. These engines have a stronger dual-row bearing setup, which makes them far more reliable than the later, larger units. That should matter even less here, because this well-kept Midnight Blue 199 has covered just 35,000 miles from new. The low mileage goes back to 2000, when the car was extensively rebuilt by a qualified engineer following an engine fire. After that, it was taken to Mallorca in 2011, where it lived a lightly used life in the sun. In 2022 it returned to the UK and was acquired by the seller. He tells us he’s spent over £2,500 on light recommissioning, including a gear selector cable, suspension bushes, roof drip trays and seals.
The smart paintwork is matched with a well-kept grey leather interior, featuring sports seats and the original Porsche stereo. The car also has the versatile 5-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox. With a fresh MOT and service check completed in April 2026, the vendor describes it as being in very good condition for its age and ready to be enjoyed this summer.image.png4.55 MB
