The Appeal
Car companies always need new cars to entice buyers into showrooms, but there’s a strong case to argue that with the E39 5 Series it was job done. Few classic saloons are quite as perfect and brilliantly executed as Wolfgang Reitzle’s executive express.
These cars are increasingly in demand with enthusiasts, but we suspect few are quite as good as this single-keeper, low-mileage 525i. It’s a testament to the owner and the chaps who engineered and built it that, aside from a handful of inevitable frontal stone chips, the most obvious sign of its 24 years is slight wear to the radio’s volume knob. Attractively finished in dark metallic blue with beige leather, it is a truly fine survivor.
The history file verifies the mileage and shows a run of regular servicing by main dealers and specialists. The last service was in August 2025, after which the car has been used sparingly. The current MOT runs to August 2027 with no advisories.
This is the kind of modern classic you can use and enjoy now with a view to showing it in the near future.
