The Appeal

The R230 delivered a step change in the evolution of the SL lineage: a clever and versatile convertible that could also be used as a hard top coupe. No more requirement to store a separate roof and choose between soft top and hard top motoring.

The SL500 added a potent 300bhp 5litre V8 to this mix together with a very high specification that showcased the latest technology from the firm.
