The Appeal

For Elise fans seeking the ultimate driver’s car, but one that is a rarer and perhaps more civilised than Hethel’s offering, the VX220 is a canny choice. It’s the sort of car that has sat under the radar for years, yet thanks to that Lotus DNA, is one of the best drivers’ cars ever built.

Under the handsome, chiselled styling lies the running gear of the Elise except for Vauxhall’s torque 2.2L Ecotexc engine in place of the K-Series. WIder sills and a more generous cabin make the VX220 the more comfortable too. Finished in silver over two-tone black and red leather, this Ecotec has been with the current keeper since 2013, but has covered very few miles in recent years and since the last service.
