The Appeal
Making use of a strengthened chassis, all-wheel drive and the much-loved 4G63 powerplant, the Mitsubishi Evo has become synonymous with thoroughbred Japanese rally performance. It's a high-octane, sharp-handling legend on the sports circuit while offering a practical four-door layout for the day-to-day.
The eight generation car didn't mess with a winning formula, it merely made it even better. For many it is the best Evo all-rounder. Then there are the UK-market 'FQ' models, which used a prefix nobody has quite had the courage to decipher to denote a range of high performance models. The FQ-300, which is the car we have here, got a power hike to 305bhp. These are exceptionally rare cars - records indicate only a few hundred were ever registered and less than 50 remain UK road registered.
With many FQ-300s driven into the ground, this 2003 example is rather special. It stands out for its originality and low mileage, having covered just 44,000 miles from new. Maintained with care and stored in a garage since the current owner's purchase in 2018, this Evo is highly original, well-kept and ready-and-waiting for its lucky new owner.

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
