The Appeal
What remarkable cars these were. The W220-generation S65 AMG sits at the very top of Mercedes-Benz's early 2000s hierarchy: a hand-built 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 producing 612 hp and a remarkable 1,001 Nm of torque, housed within the long-wheelbase S-Class. With a total production of just 630 units and reportedly only 223 built for markets outside the United States, it is a genuinely rare machine.
This Alabaster White example was delivered new in Japan in October 2004 and remained with its original keeper, accumulating modest mileage supported by what the vendor describes as a main dealer service history. A Japanese auction condition report confirms a clear history and good condition. Imported to Finland in 2017, the car has since passed through a small number of hands before being acquired by the present owner in late 2023.
The current custodian has invested considerably in bringing the car to strong mechanical order. Work has been carried out largely by Veho, the authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer network in Finland, and encompasses the transmission, ABC suspension, steering, brakes, drivetrain and numerous further items, all detailed below.
A Classic Data inspection in June 2024 awarded the car a grade 2 rating with a valuation of €65,000, and it was the subject of a six-page feature in the official Mercedes club of Finland magazine, Tähdelliset. Holding a current Finnish MOT, it presents a rare opportunity to acquire one of these formidable V12 saloons in well-sorted, ready-to-enjoy condition.DSC08877.jpg1.38 MB
