The Appeal
The first water-cooled Porsche, with extensive styling changes - including the now easily-recognised 'fried egg' headlamps - the 996 was a controversial break from convention when it hit the market, but quickly settled into one of the most capable, accessible and eminently drivable generations of the legendary Stuttgart sports car.
Powered by a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six producing 420 HP and driving all four wheels through Porsche's sophisticated all-wheel-drive system, it remains a formidably quick machine even by today's standards. As a 2005 example, this is a late-production car, benefiting from the incremental refinements Porsche introduced throughout the model's run.
This Belgian-registered example is equipped with Tiptronic automatic transmission and comes well specified. Accompanied by a current technical inspection and recently serviced, this car is now ready and waiting for its lucky new owner. DSC05292.JPG15.66 MB

The 996's biggest selling point, of course, is that ever-impressive performance. Thoroughly well-planted on the road, these cars are fun, highly charismatic and powerful. Fairly lightweight and still offering that signature Stuttgart soundtrack, it may not be air-cooled, but it's undeniably a Porsche, and an incredibly good one. A 996 owner is generally a happy motorist, and as enthusiasts discover these handsome cars in their droves, there's no better time to become one of their number. DSC05405.JPG13.31 MB BEFORE YOU BUY
