The Appeal
Key to any classic Porsche purchase are the decisions and, quite frankly, the taste of the original buyer. Colour and spec are critical to making a 911 stand out. All of which is a long-winded way of saying that this car is something special.
The first keeper of this early 997.1 clearly went to town. They ticked the ‘4S’ box, adding the larger 320bhp 3.8L flat six, plus the 6spd manual box. Further along, they added the ‘Turbo’ five spoke, triple split alloys, classic ‘triple black’ colour scheme and then they feasted on nearly £7,000 of options, including Porsche PCM, upgraded seats and a set of iconic red seatbelts.
In the intervening 21 years the car has only covered 78,000 miles and remains in great order. We’re told that it has been well maintained and in recent years serviced every 5,000 miles by a marque specialist. A major service, including coils and plugs, was recently completed in February 2026. The vendor bought the car in 2023 from a Porsche specialist and tells us that it was prepared before sale with a new clutch, brake work and the main rear seal replaced. The current MOT runs to August 2026 with no advisories.
The 997 returned the classic looks and added a better quality interior and improved reliability compared to the 996. This early car has the spec, condition and maintenance to make it stand out.
The vendor says:
“Great car, quick acceleration, great handling, drives like a dream, good looks. A perfect summer convertible”
