The Appeal
Good as the modern Defender is, this 2006 90 County proves that something was lost in the move towards upmarket luxury. It’s a clever evolution of the original 1940s model, and one that hasn’t lost any any of the tough, rugged, go-anywhere capability, but has gained usability and reliability along the way.
Finished in attractive Cairns Blue metallic with a matching hardwearing blue fabric interior, this Defender is a very tidy example that has been used and enjoyed, but clearly not abused. We’re told, in fact, that it has never been offroad. With regular servicing to 2025, £7,000 recently invested in mechanical work and a current MOT valid until August 2027, this is a well-documented, well-maintained Defender ready for continued use.
The vendor says:
“We've owned this car for 10 years, done plenty of miles all over the country. It has been looked after by reputable specialists near Edinburgh.
“Low ownership, never had a hard life, never been off-roaded. Originally supplied by Frank Ogg of Elgin to a local businessman, he kept it for a few years before selling it to another person local to Elgin. The car then was bought by someone in Edinburgh, who kept it immaculate, that was the person we bought the car from 10 years ago. All the history is with the car. We have only done minor upgrades to the car including new washer jets, gas struts for the rear door, i have changed out the light surrounds and grill. Original grill and surrounds will be supplied with the car. No aftermarket stereo or interior mods.”
