The Appeal
The fifth generation of Pininfarina’s pretty Quattroporte was a massive commercial success. For obvious reasons, because its style, charisma and sheer capability were an antidote to the more anodyn German alternatives. Those qualities still apply, making these executive express saloons rewarding daily drivers for those with a classic motoring bent.
This 2006 car has the 4.2L version of the Ferrari-built F136 V8. Finished in popular dark Grigio Metallic with a well-kept black leather and walnut interior, it is a tidy and nicely specified car that has been with the current keeper since 2022. He has entrusted it to Edinburgh specialist The Supercar Tech for maintenance, including a recent service in June 2026. Other notable work includes a replacement clutch in late 2022 using OEM parts. This work alone cost close to £4,000. Recent work includes a reconditioned alternator and a new rear wheel bearing.
The vendor states the engine runs sweetly and smoothly with a fine gear change. The bodywork and paintwork present well for the car's age, and the cabin shows only minor wear commensurate with its mileage. With a long MOT and a partial service history, this Quattroporte represents an appealing proposition for those seeking an Italian grand touring alternative to more obvious European alternatives.
The vendor says:
“This vehicle offers a lot of car for the money. A superb grand tourer with a Ferrari V8 engine and original F1-style semi-automatic gearbox. It offers superb driving comfort, allowing you to cover long distances with ease, and a comfortable ride so you arrive at your destination refreshed. You'll be hard-pressed to get better value for money; these cars are an absolute bargain.”
