The Appeal

The X358’s clever trick is to look like a traditional Jaguar, but be thoroughly modern. Lightweight aluminium bodywork, air suspension and the sort of performance that can embarrass supercars all make these cars compelling alternatives to more common German rivals.

Just 614 X358 XJRs were built, of which only a hundred or so were destined for UK buyers. The current keeper of this very tidy 2008 example tells us that just four of them were painted in its fetching Botanic Green, of which it is the only one with ivory leather and burr walnut veneers.

The service history shows regular maintenance by Harwoods main dealer for the first four services, followed by long-term care from specialist XJ Engineering and, more recently, AA Classics and Big Cat Cars. Since acquiring the car in April 2025, the current vendor — an active member of the local Jaguar Enthusiasts Club — has undertaken a considered programme of mechanical work covering suspension, brakes, cooling system and other items detailed below. The car carries a recent July 2026 service and a fresh MOT valid to August 2027.

Sitting on its factory 20-inch Calisto alloys and finished in that striking dark green, this XJR presents well for its age and mileage. The vendor describes it as a car that rewards on longer journeys, noting it has provided some memorable road trips during their ownership. Offered not as a concours piece but as a well-maintained, usable and increasingly rare modern-classic Jaguar, it should appeal to anyone seeking a distinctive super saloon with presence and performance.

It's been an interesting change from my previous M5 line-up, being more refined but equally powerful. It's fantastic on longer journeys, and we've had some incredible road trips in this car. It's whetted my appetite for performance Jags, and I'm after an XJS convertible next.”
