The Appeal

The 997 didn’t have to mess too much with the 996 package because it was just so good. The new car got more power, hiked from 420bhp to 475bhp, reduced turbo lag, classic-style lights and dashboard and improved quality trim. The 997.1 inaugurated the trend away from manual transmissions by being the first Turbo that was quicker with the 5-speed Tiptronic as fitted here than as a manual.
