The Appeal
Mercedes-Benz's decision to fit a hand-built 5.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 into the compact SLK roadster resulted in one of the most characterful open-top cars of its era. With the automotive world having since moved firmly towards turbocharging, the R172-generation SLK 55 AMG stands as one of the last of its kind: a naturally aspirated V8 convertible with a stirring soundtrack and serious performance to match.
This 2012 example has been in the care of its current keeper since 2014, when it was acquired from Sytner Mercedes Bristol with just 6,641 miles recorded. In the approximately 12 years since, it has been garage-stored and driven only sparingly, covering fewer than 10,000 additional miles. Servicing has been carried out at Sinclair Mercedes Bridgend, and the car was last attended to in July 2025 at 16,334 miles. It remains entirely factory standard, with no modifications whatsoever, and comes with a desirable specification including red leather, Airscarf, glass roof, IWC clock and Harman Kardon sound system. The vendor reports the car to be in very good overall condition, with a clean underside and all switchgear functioning correctly.Mercedes039.jpeg252.11 KB

✓ We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
