Description
Here for sale is a well-sorted and very quick Van Diemen single seater, rebuilt with a Kawasaki ZX9 bike engine conversion and ready to use immediately for sprints, hillclimbs, Formula First racing or open-wheel track days.
Power is from a low-mileage 900cc ZX9 engine, giving approx. 300 bhp/ ton. Drive is via a West Garage rear Cosworth LSD differential with chain drive, which works extremely well and has proven reliable. The chassis was stripped, sand blasted and hot zinc primed before being painted black – done properly rather than cosmetically.
The car passed scrutineering at all events last season without issue and has been very reliable, with predictable, well-balanced handling.
Maintained regardless of cost, it had a full fluid service at the end of last year using fully synthetic oil, fresh brake fluid and coolant.
Cooling is via a twin radiator system with electric fan. Brakes include recent new rear Formula Ford callipers with EBC pads and new master cylinders. A bespoke exhaust is fitted with a titanium Kawasaki silencer, keeping noise levels suitable for most track days.
Quick-release steering wheel fitted.
Suspension wishbones and plating are in very good condition.
Cockpit is best suited to drivers up to 6ft, approx. 34” waist and 40” chest for comfort.
HANS belts valid until 2027. Supplied with the original MSA log book and good history with receipts.
Included spares package:
* Full set of Avon soft slicks
* Wet tyres on Weller Formula Ford rims
* Additional soft tyres (some on rims)
* Spare wishbones, discs, chain and assorted parts
Further spares such as bearings are readily available from historic motorsport suppliers
Ready to sprint, hillclimb, race or track day immediately – season starts April.
A quick, reliable and properly prepared single seater that offers excellent performance and value.
