Description
………….. SORRY, RESERVED FOR DENIS…………..
………………. YOUR AIRHEAD WANTED…………….
This one is a rather special R100.
Probably one of the very last Airheads built, it is a UK bike, and registered in 1996. It was subject to a nut and bolt restoration around ten years ago, and has covered only 2k miles since since.
Originally an RT, and rebuilt to factory “naked” spec. Make no mistake, this was a comprehensive restoration, producing a smart, reliable, ready to go anywhere Airhead. There is a photographic record of the build, and a brief summary of the work undertaken includes:
. Complete engine overhaul, inc all bearings, seals, timing chain, rings, heads, etc.
. Gearbox and bevel seals refreshed
. New clutch.
. New starter motor.
. Carbs overhauled with full rebuild kits.
. New battery and cables.
. Fuel tank stripped and sealed.
. New wheel bearings, and wheels powder coated
. New modern tyres.
. Complete braking system overhaul, with all new pads, seals, shoes and . . floating discs.
. Forks hard re chrome.
. Professional repaint to frame / bodywork.
. Factory luggage.
. And much, much more.
Hopefully, that gives you a flavour of the investment in this bike. Now for sale at a fraction of the build costs.
Viewings and inspections are welcome and encouraged here at JTR Classic BMW, Washington, North East England, but by appointment please. Discounted courier delivery available.
Good selection of Airheads available at the moment, including R50/ 5, R60/ 6, R65 x 2, (one with a Siebenrock 860 kit), R90S x 3, R80ST, R100RS, R80RT, etc. Running / riding project bikes from around £2495.

I’ll also be taking along a ‘72 R50/ 5, and an ‘87 R80GS at prices that will be strictly show only, so if you’re thinking of acquiring an early Airhead, drop by and say hello.
All the best
John.
