The Appeal

Costing the equivalent of £150,000 new, it’s perhaps not surprising that BMW could only tempt 916 UK buyers into the 840CI, despite the model’s gorgeous shark-nosed looks and advanced technology. That makes them rare today and, with those looks and that cleverness, highly desirable. These cars make fantastic classic GTs.

The early cars are fitted with the less complicated 282bhp 4L M60 V8, and this one is barely run it at under 77,500 miles from new. The Arctic Grey metallic paintwork presents very well, and the Silver Grey leather reflects its sparing use. Aficionados will note tasty features like the original BMW stereo and ‘throwing star’ alloys, which are recently refurbished. Less obvious is a recently fitted CSI-specification Bilstein B12 suspension kit to sharpen up the handling. We are told it has the Brembo brake package.

The car comes to market with a good service history, with the last stamp showing just under 76,000 miles in 2024. Since then, the car has covered few miles.
