The Appeal
The Porsche 928 was a groundbreaking grand tourer when it debuted in 1977, winning European Car of the Year and offering a front-engined V8 alternative to the iconic 911. Early examples like this 1978 car, identifiable by their single wing mirror, are among the most collectable of the breed, and the five-speed manual gearbox makes this an especially sought-after specification; the vast majority of 928s left the factory with automatic transmissions.
Finished in Minerva Blue Metallic with a blue/black Pasha interior, this 928 presents a smart, period-correct combination. It has benefited from considerable specialist attention, including a glass-out respray, interior retrim, suspension upgrades, and extensive mechanical work. Most recently, a full service was carried out in July 2026, addressing a rough running fault and fitting fresh ignition components. With a history file accompanying the car, including the original owner’s manual and service book, plus MOTs dating back to 1988, the vendor describes this early manual 928 as a very good example.
