The Appeal
America does vans well. For years, the British had to make do with piddly four-cylinder affairs that could barely crest a hill, but the US approach of shoving a V8 in anything on four wheels made their commercials a cut above the rest.
The Chevrolet G20 Komfort Koach is one of the most recognisable American custom vans of the 1980s: a rolling lounge that epitomises the era's enthusiasm for comfort, character, and V8 rumble. With their plush rotating seats, fold-down beds, and distinctive pin striping, these conversion vans have become increasingly sought after by enthusiasts on both sides of the Atlantic, and well-preserved examples with strong provenance are not easy to find.
This 1984 example, affectionately known as "Buck," retains its original six-seat velour interior complete with four rotating and reclining seats and a rear bench that converts to a double bed. The central table is also present, along with the original Komfort Koach pin striping. Prior to import, Buck enjoyed single-family ownership from new in Ohio before being sourced by Voiture 2 Collection in Provence, who specialise in finding and importing Chevy Vans from the USA. The vendor imported Buck to the UK in late 2024 via MyCarImport, who handled compliance work including fog light fitment and lighting changes.
Since arriving in the UK, Buck has benefited from new front discs and a gear selector overhaul, both carried out by Oshe Automotive, along with a new battery converted to UK connections and a stainless switchable side-pipe exhaust. The vendor has driven Buck from the UK to Le Mans and back, as well as to various events around the country, and states that he never misses a beat and fires up readily every time. The Refuel livery wrap is currently fitted but can be removed by the new owner if desired. A Blaupunkt Bluetooth stereo has also been installed for hands-free calls and music streaming.
Most importantly, one hundred per cent of the winning bid will go directly to Car & Classic's charity partner The Refuel, funding their vital work to improve heart and mental health in the car community. This is a chance to acquire a characterful and thoroughly usable classic American van while supporting a worthy cause.OUL_5261-2 Luke Papworth.jpg11.01 MB

✓ We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
