The Appeal
When did you last see one of these?! We'll wager it's been a long time, and we'll bet the last Montego you encountered wasn't in anything near such good condition as this 1985 example. It's like stepping back in tie forty years.
The MG Montego EFi paired British Leyland's fuel-injected 2.0-litre O-Series engine with a sporting chassis and well-appointed cabin, offering a genuinely capable alternative to the contemporary sporting saloon establishment. Early pre-facelift examples in launch specification are now very scarce, and finding one in this condition is rarer still.
This 1985 car was used sparingly in its early years before being laid up in dry storage for almost two decades. It was recommissioned between 2009 and 2011, and the vendor states the paintwork presents with only a couple of very minor imperfections visible up close. The interior, featuring red carpets and seat belts, is described by the vendor as the car's best feature, preserved in unfaded condition by years of storage away from sunlight. Mechanically, the exhaust and timing belt have been recently replaced, and the vendor reports no known faults. Owners club enthusiasts are said to consider this one of the finest remaining examples.
Reluctantly offered due to a change in personal circumstances, this is an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire a highly original early MG Montego EFi.image.png1.44 MB
