The Appeal

The Volvo 900 series was the last in a long line of traditional rear-wheel drive models that incorporated the Swedish brand’s hallmarks of boxy styling, rugged mechanicals and impeccable safety credentials. The 940 estate added an enormous luggage bay to the mix.

This 1991 model has been owned by the seller since May 1997, and it has been garaged ever since. The seller states that until 2015 it was serviced and repaired by a trusted ex-Volvo mechanic who had sourced the car; following their retirement, the car received oil changes and consumables from a local garage. During the last car, the car has only covered two miles. The fuel pressure regulator has just been replaced, and a new engine ECU was fitted in 2017.

The exterior of the car has stood the test of time well. There are some minor dents and marks outside, and some distortion to the bonnet, in keeping with the car’s age, and the left door mirror has received a temporary repair. The car is remarkably original, down to its radio with cassette player. The driver’s seat has some rips, but otherwise the interior is generally tidy and functions correctly.

The seller states that the car has been “very comfortable and reliable, needing virtually no major work. I’ve had two Volvo estates before it, but this has been by far the best.” They no longer use it, and so it is time for a new owner to enjoy its space and versatility.
