The Appeal
To the uninitiated, the Westfield SEW is a lightweight, open-top sports car in the Lotus Seven tradition: a formula that rewards the driver perhaps more than any other car money can buy with raw, unfiltered motoring thrills. Powered by a very special Ford BDA-specification engine, this example offers a particularly potent take on the genre, with Jenvey throttle bodies and an MBE Easimap ECU managing the fuelling.
This car has been in the hands of its current owner for approximately 21 years, during which time it has been used exclusively as a spirited country road car, never raced or tracked in the UK. Shortly after importation from South Africa, Luego Classics rebuilt the engine to full BDA specification, renewing the block to 1,698cc and balancing it. The car passed IVA and has been registered on UK plates since 2006.
Garage-stored throughout, the bodywork is described as being in very good condition with only minor stone chips on the rear wings and one mark on the front side. The interior retains its Westfield seats, Willans four-point harnesses and a removable Momo steering wheel. Luego Classics changed all fluids in 2024, and a new battery was fitted in June 2026. South African paperwork and UK importation and registration documents are included with the car.
The vendor says:
"This is a quick, great fun, eye-catching, reliable car to drive. Being open-bodied, it is rewarding to cruise country roads in the summer."image.png1.38 MB
