Full professional restoration to original specification — excellent overall presentation.

Burgundy body with black wheel arches — high-quality paint finish, no rust or corrosion.

Always dry-stored indoors since restoration; clean underside and body panels.

New period-correct beige interior, light coloured and beautifully trimmed.

Vinyl-covered fixed roof in excellent order, matching the factory Berline design.

Engine fully rebuilt — smooth, reliable, and starts first time.

Gearbox rebuilt and serviced — clean, quiet gear changes.

Chrome and brightwork in very good condition throughout.

Original spoke wheels with period-correct tyres and rear-mounted spare wheel.

Extremely rare in the UK — only a handful of Peugeot 201s are currently registered, making this a highly collectible pre-war model.

Historical Significance

The Peugeot 201, produced from 1929 to 1937, was the first Peugeot to use the brand’s now-famous three-digit naming system with a “0” in the middle.
It was also one of the first mass-produced cars to feature independent front suspension (introduced in 1931), offering greatly improved comfort and handling for its time.
A total of around 142, 000 Peugeot 201s were built across all body styles, but very few survive today, particularly in such fine restored condition.

Summary

A stunning example of early 1930s French motoring — elegant, smooth-running, and historically significant.
This 1931 Peugeot 201 Berline (Saloon) combines originality, rarity, and reliability — a true collector’s piece, ready to drive or display with pride.
