We are delighted to offer this Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8, registered in 1967, in a particularly warm and elegant configuration.
This BJ8 stands out first and foremost for the quality of its presentation, as well as its history. Its current owner purchased it 26 years ago and, starting in 2001, carried out a comprehensive restoration of the car. This complete, well-documented work—supported by an extensive photographic file and numerous invoices—covered all the essential areas: bodywork, chassis, engine, mechanicals, transmission, the wiring loom, and the interior.
Since that restoration, the car has covered around 51, 500 km, demonstrating regular use and attentive maintenance. This is therefore not a car that was simply restored and then left standing, but a properly thought-out, maintained, and enjoyed Austin-Healey—built to be driven.
The bodywork is in very smart condition, with all the hallmark BJ8 features: the oval chrome grille, the long, rounded bonnet with air intake, chrome bumpers, and Phase 2 separate headlights. On this model, you also benefit from the long-range lamps and chrome wire wheels.
The interior received particular care during the restoration. The cabin has been reupholstered in leather, paired with burgundy carpets and a matching burgundy tonneau cover for a truly refined atmosphere. The trimmer who reworked the entire interior also made a bespoke leather armrest, which doubles as a storage compartment—perfectly integrated into the cabin.
The walnut wood dashboard with a polished finish—typical of the latest BJ8s—is in excellent condition and features a full set of instrumentation. The speedometer in km/ h is a real advantage for driving in France. The original period radio is still there, as is the Moto-Lita wood steering wheel, which matches the car’s ambience perfectly.
The overdrive control is integrated directly into the gear-lever knob, a particularly pleasant layout in day-to-day use. It makes it easy to use the overdrive on the road without taking your hand off the lever, and it adds to the driving appeal of this BJ8.
Under the bonnet, the 2, 912 cc straight-six provides all the character expected from an Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III. During the 2001 restoration, the engine and key mechanical components were refreshed as part of that complete, documented rebuild. The car runs today beautifully, with a supple, torquey mechanical feel that’s well suited to regular use.
