MUCH MORE THAN A RESTOMOD. But what exactly is the Delta EVO Martini? It is a high-end collector's jewel produced in a limited numbered edition of just 8 EXAMPLES, born from reviving the spirit of a project (never approved) that was about to take shape at Lancia in 1993. It concerned the final evolution of the Delta HF Integrale that Carrozzeria Maggiora had presented to the Turin executives, with the objective of creating a more modern, robust, reliable and comfortable car than the previous Delta Evoluzione 2 whilst naturally preserving its styling and bodywork. Unfortunately the car would have proved too expensive to produce under that specification, and therefore difficult to sell, so the Lancia executives declined the proposal. A ROAD-GOING GROUP A. Gearbox, differential and half-shafts employ current materials and promise to be far more robust than the original. The electronics have been replaced with an engine management system capable of reducing fuel consumption and emissions whilst maintaining performance. The brakes, a Brembo system, needless to say, are taken from the Ferrari 360 Modena, for shorter stopping distances, greater resistance to fatigue and consequently greater safety. The dampers are Bilstein, adjustable. As for tyres, the choice fell on Michelin Pilot Sport, among the few capable of being effective even on a track-day. Under the bonnet, the four-cylinder of the Delta EVO Martini delivers 215 CV for normal use, but features a switch on the dashboard that allows the 2. 0 turbo 16-valve to produce up to 350/ 360 CV and make itself heard with a spine-tingling note thanks to a valve that fully opens the exhaust. In this configuration the car can only be used on track or on closed roads, for example as a pace car for a rally.
