1969 Jaguar E-Type Series 2 OTS

Vendor supplied images

Highlights

  • Well maintained and smart Series 2 convertible
  • Classically finished in red over black
  • Very good bodywork and interior
  • Few miles since comprehensive independent valuation
  • Significant ongoing maintenance investment
  • Series 2 car with desirable conversion to Series 1 rear lights

The Appeal

The E-Type OTS convertible evolved from a small, lightweight car that Jaguar planned to race at Le Mans. That it became one of the most desirable cars of the 1960s and a motoring icon was never part of the original plan.
The short-lived Series 2 added luxury and was the last version to carry the original shape before the Series 3 arrived in 1971.
This 1969 E-Type is one of the first 1,000 LHD OTS Series 2 models and is classically finished in red over black. A very usable example with excellent bodywork, it has been modified to incorporate the smaller rear lights of the earlier cars. It has covered few miles since a comprehensive independent assessment and valuation that is helpfully provided in the photographs.

  • This values the car at 90,000 Euros and it has covered only 150kms since

This Series 2 E-Type is classically finished in red with black roof and trim, one of the most popular combinations for this era of the car.  The car presents very well with good panel fit and with no visible corrosion across the body or underneath.
Series 2 cars had rear lights below the bumper but this car has been converted to the earlier, smaller lights above the rear bumper.
The interior is well kept and could be described as original and usable.  There is an attractive and desirable E-Type three spoke wood-rimmed wheel and a small concession to modernity in the form of the Audiovox sound system.

The Mechanics

  • 4.2litre XK straight six engine developing around 245bhp
  • 4spd manual gearbox
  • Uprated cooling fans with two replacing original one
