The Appeal
When you consider that Volkswagen built over 2.5M Type 3s in Germany and Brazil, it is perhaps a surprise that outside of enthusiast shows, you rarely see one. But those fans know a good thing - these stylish, practical and reliable cars make great classics, whether you choose to keep them standard, or modify them.
This late-model Brazil-built 1600 has been kept usefully standard so could be taken in either direction. It was restored in 2016 by the vendor’s father in Brazil and imported here in 2023. Inbetween the original engine was rebuilt in 2020. It retains its correct twin Solex carburettor set up and original 4spd manual gearbox. It was last serviced in September 2024.
Finished in stand-out yellow and sitting on understated steels, the vendor tells us that the paintwork and panels are original. The black vinyl interior has been refurbished with new carpets, seat covers and door cards. This is a great-looking car that looks ready to use and enjoy.

- Floorpans cleaned, treated, and painted and in good order

- Tyres are elderly and show cracking to most sidewalls as shown
