The Appeal
Forget convention. When it came to taking on the 911, Blackpool’s TVR played to its strengths. And its strengths were dialling back the nannying driver aids and firmly dialling up the unusual, the individual and the downright quirky.
The Tuscan was also viscerally quick, thanks to its Speed Six engine. That unit was properly race-honed, too, unlike the flat six in the Porsche. Its a package of boiling, roiling drama that few sports cars can match.
The Mk2 Tuscan introduced mildly updated aesthetics - most notably the rear lights - and some useful improvements to improve drivability, such as revised suspension and steering settings.
This exceptionally low mileage Mk2 - the miles have just passed 20,000 - is finished in understated black with matching interior and is usefully factory standard. Beyond the preserved condition its running gear and mechanicals have been carefully maintained by an army of well known specialists. The history file reads like a TVR who’s who. Recent work includes attention to the electrics and wiring. Earlier work has included engine, brakes and many other areas that buyers will be relieved to see have been checked and attended to.
There really is nothing quite like a good Tuscan to get the heart pounding. This well kept car also does ‘sensible’ as that impressive history file and a long, advisory-free MOT attest.
