The Appeal
When it debuted at the end of 2012, the all-new fourth-generation Range Rover took the prestigious British SUV to new, ultra-luxurious levels that firmly cemented its status among the most desirable luxury items on the planet.
Beloved of the rich and famous, the ‘L405’ Range Rover was an expensive car – you needed £80k for the entry-level model, and that was before you even looked at the options list.
This one is supremely well-equipped – a 2015 Autobiography model with the flagship 4.4-litre TD V8 engine, it’s finished in classy Santorini Black paint. The Santorini Black paintwork of the Range Rover is one of the classic colours for the model – subtle yet still imposing, it gives the car a menacing presence. It’s in fine order, with no obvious damage or notable dents, just a handful of minor marks and chips as you’d expect from a vehicle that has been used daily for nine years.
The 22-inch factory alloys are in good order and are shod with fairly recent Continental tyres, while the glass, trim and badges are all in smart condition.
Underneath, there’s some very light surface rust to the suspension components, floor pans and subframes, but nothing alarming or rotten – a good coat of underseal and wax protection should keep it solid for years to come.
The cabin of the fourth-generation Range Rover is as far removed from its utilitarian roots as possible – it was, when new, one of the most luxurious cars in the world and it still is today – especially in gloriously appointed Autobiography trim.
This one is in good overall order, with supple heated and cooled Bridge of Weir leather in excellent order – just a small amount of wear to the driver’s side armrest and door pull belying its age and mileage. It’s sumptuously equipped with a centre console fridge, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel and an amazing Meridian concert-quality stereo, along with subtle piano black veneer details.
