Description
The Rover 2000, or P6 was launched in 1963 and promptly won car of the year as well as many awards for safety and design, thanks to innovative features such as all-round disc brakes and body panels which bolted to a frame like the Citroen DS.
This car is a 1973 Rover 2000 automatic in Corsica Blue with sandalwood leather trim. It has had just four previous owners and was in the same family from new until 2011. The mileage is correct at just 58, 000 miles. It is in excellent condition - the upper body is rust free, the paint finish is very good, the underside is very solid and the all-important D-posts are in good order. The under-bonnet is particularly good and with perhaps a day of minor detailing could be described as concourse and the interior trim is in good original order. It runs and drives beautifully and the automatic gearbox (overhauled two years ago at a cost of £1500) works perfectly.
The history file contains all of its original documents including “Passport to Service” and handbooks, many invoices for parts and work, new and old log-books and a couple of trophies for class wins at car shows.
This is an very good P6 but there are various minor cosmetic jobs required to take it to make it perfect but no great expense. These cars have been under-valued for years and it is surprising that you can buy a good one for less than the price of a Morris Minor but gradually, process are rising. This one offers excellent value.
