The RD350 has a cult following and for good reason. These were born of a different age when 2-strokes roamed the streets, and the air was full of the smell of blue smoke. The LC model was born from the RD350 series, and the need to keep the bike cool and to adhere to the ever tightening emissions regulations. The outcome was a punchy and aggressively accelerating 347cc parallel twin 2-stroke, that put out 47 bhp. This was only a small bike, so it was extremely rapid off the line.
This is the 1984 model and so is one of the last of the liquid cooled RDs before the RZ350. That does mean that these bikes are more reliable, and were the first Yamaha bikes fitted with the YVPS valve. This valve effectively changes the height of the exhaust port, leading to a better spread of torque and power across the board.
This is a lovely condition RD350 that looks incredible in the flesh. The black and red striping look really great, and it’s just enough contrast to finish this bike nicely, and give it a lot of presence. The RD has very svelte bodywork, which looks lean and muscular. The bikini fairing adds some extra practicality, but it really finishes the bike off without braking up the lines. The view from the dashboard is substantial and surprisingly protective considering the small size.
This is a mid mileage bike but is really clean and does not look old or worn at all. This is a real nice slice of the 80s, and captures everything that the 2-stroke era was about. This is great opportunity to own such a cult machine, and it won’t be around long, so enquire to avoid disappointment.
