This is one of the first generation and completely original 1981 CBX1000 before they got the additional fairing. This is a really popular bike, and buyers love its smooth inline-6. The inline-6 is the star of the show, and it revs cleanly and smoothly all the way too 9000rpm, outputting an ample 105bhp. This bike was good for 130mph, which in its day was impressive.
The CBX1000 was developed from GP racing engine technology, and was Honda’s first production inline-6 motor. It’s a revolutionary and complicated motor, and was well received when it was introduced to the public. A review in Cycle magazine called the CBX a “breakthrough for the Japanese motorcycle industry” and praised its design, concept, and performance. The CBX1000 was seen as the pinnacle of Japanese motorbikes at the time, and there hasn’t really been a motor quite like this since. It’s a lovely looking bike, with lots of bright chrome on display, with those six polished headers taking the centre stage. Once you fire it up the centre stage becomes the F1 bellows that come from deep within the engine.
So what you get for your money is quite an astounding little bike, that is very much in demand. This model is a really clean bike with a understated silvery grey look with acres of bright chrome everywhere. The mid-mileage range means that you can get this for an absolute steal. Just hearing this bike will make you want to leave with it.
