Here is my 1967 MG Midget, an early Mark III and therefore with the 1275cc engine. Make no mistake, she is in outstanding condition and was formerly the pride and joy of an elderly owner who was clearly fastidious in his care of this little gem.
During the past ten years, she has covered less than 200 miles spending practically all her time under wraps in a dry garage. She has a new MoT and, considering she has spent so much time in hibernation, she drives superbly. Usually I find myself pointing out imperfections on the body/ paintwork of my classic cars, but with this Midget it's extremely difficult to find anything untoward. She has to be one of the nicest, prettiest, straightest examples currently for sale. There is a slight tear at the bottom of the nearside quarter window of the hood which would be a simple repair. Otherwise, just admire, drive and cherish. Obviously, as she has averaged less than 20 miles a year for the past decade, I would advise that you have her delivered (which I can arrange) or else you come with a trailer.
Remember that these old girls are motoring antiques. Practically every one of them will have been subjected to work at some time in their long lives and they are bound to need more love and attention in the future. Context is all with classic cars. Please do not run your finger over them and compare them to your wife's new Chelsea tractor! On-going work is virtually inevitable with all of them. I do not put them through a garage "test", nor do I drive them for months on end. They come in and they go out. I feel that I have become a "re-homer" of motoring antiques. They leave me with no warranty either given or implied. They are too old for that! You may spot something of which I know nothing. It happens.
